Your lasting legacy
We all need to make a Will. It's the only way we can ensure that what is ours goes where we want it to.
But a Will can also ensure that a cause you believe in will continue to be supported.
12 women a day currently die from ovarian cancer in the UK. You can help change that terrifying statistic by leaving a legacy to Ovarian cancer action.
Making your Will is simple
Value your estate
It is important to have an accurate idea of what you own and what you are likely to be worth. To find out the value of your estate, deduct any debts or liabilities.
Decide who should benefit
Make a list of who you want to benefit from your estate after your death, and in what way. Consider your friends and also consider the opportunities your Will gives you to help others, for example making a difference to women's health by leaving a legacy to Ovarian cancer action.
Find a solicitor
Look in Yellow Pages, or on line at www.yell.com or try the Law Society website at www.solicitors-online.com
Chose your executors
They are the people who are responsible for administering your Will. It is best to chose two executors, and they can be beneficiaries of the Will.
Get your Will signed and witnessed
When the Will is drawn up, it will need to be signed by you in the presence of two witnesses, who cannot be beneficiaries.
Keep your Will safe
It's best to leave it with your solicitor for safekeeping but do keep a copy. For further information please call 020 8238 7605 or email info@ovarian.org.uk
