Payroll giving
Make a difference and donate from your pay
Payroll giving is a simple way to give to charity in the most tax-effective way possible.
Your donations provide Ovarian Cancer Action with regular income enabling us to plan long term funding for vital ovarian cancer research and awareness-raising.
Benefits for the employee giver
Your donations are taken from your pay packet before tax is calculated, so you donate more, but pay less.
It's hassle free, all you have to do is sign up with the payroll department and the money you pledge comes to the charity every month.
-
If you work for an SME (Small/Medium Enterprise, which is a company with less than 500 employees) your donation will be matched by Inland Revenue for 6 months.
Benefits to the Employer
Payroll giving can increase staff morale and may even help with recruitment.
Payroll giving can enhance your public image.
If you are an SME the Inland Revenue will offer you a grant to set up Payroll Giving for employees.
Employers can go the extra mile to promote payroll giving and help Ovarian Cancer Action by matching its employees' pledges.
It is simple and inexpensive to set up and run the scheme. Administration costs are deductible from the profits for tax purposes.
Visit HM Revenue & Customs for further details of the benefits to the Employer.
This is how it works:
| Employee Pledge | Actual Cost for employee that pays 22% tax | Actual cost for employee that pays 40% tax | If the employee works for a SME the donations are matched by government for 6 months so the charity receives |
| £5 per month | £3.90 | £3.00 | £10 |
