News: Annwen Jones appointed as first paid Chief Executive
Ovarian Cancer Action has appointed Annwen Jones as its first paid Chief Executive. She replaces Allyson Kaye who will concentrate on the role of Chairman of the Trustees.
Annwen was formerly Chief Executive at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) for thirteen years where she successfully established a national presence for the charity in the UK. She has served on the Executive Council of the Association of Medical Research charities and has played a key role in championing medical research and healthcare issues.
Annwen Jones said, " Ovarian cancer is the 4th most common cancer in women with notoriously poor UK survival rates. Ovarian Cancer Action is undertaking highly innovative work to improve survival rates and I am very pleased to be joining the organisation at such a critical time".
Allyson Kaye from Ovarian Cancer Action said, "We are delighted that Annwen has chosen to join us at this exciting time in our development, growing from a small charity to a major player in the field. With her experience of leading and developing her last charity into such a successful organisation, we are excited to be harnessing Annwen's skills and enthusiasm.
