Ovarian cancer action's response mode funding is currently fully committed. In 2008/9 we will be focussing new research expenditure on the expansion of the Ovarian cancer action Research Centre, based at Imperial Hammersmith, the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital. Consequently there will not be a response mode grants round in 2008. An announcement on the timing of the 2009 grants round will follow.


Grant applications


Purpose

For short-term ovarian cancer research projects lasting up to three years in one or more of the following areas : Basic biological and translational studies; gene function and gene regulation; hereditary genetics; epi-genetics; immunology; tumour micro-environment; epidemiology; stem cell research; drug resistance; targeted therapies; symptoms; and diagnostics.

Minimum Criteria

  • The principal investigator will usually be a post-doctoral researcher with previously published research in ovarian cancer.

  • The centre where the work is to be pursued must be an established research institution in the UK.

Duration of Grant

Up to three years

Amount of award

Up to £150,000

Award may include

  • Staff (eg technician, research assistant, postdoctoral salaries excluding PhD studentships)

  • Consumables directly attributable to the project

  • Research equipment essential for the project

Peer Review

All grant applications will be subject to peer review via the Ovarian cancer action Medical Science Review Committee.

Applications from within the Ovarian cancer action Research Unit Imperial College, Hammersmith Hospital/The Royal Marsden Hospital/Institute of Cancer Research are considered under a separate funding stream and can only be submitted via Professor Hani Gabra, Director, Ovarian cancer action Research Unit, Imperial College / Hammersmith Hospital.
